Originally developed to meet the high expectations of the audio post-production market, APT codecs have evolved massively in terms of technology and features but stay true to the core principles of delivering exceptional audio quality on a solid, reliable platform. Now, our main customers are in the broadcast field, but we continue to supply the Professional Audio community as well as new customers in the fields of in-store audio and sports commentary distribution. The true revolution in our product range within recent years has been the migration away from traditional synchronous links such as E1/T1 and ISDN towards IP-based audio networking. Back in 2004, with IP technology still in its infancy, APT designed and delivered the first audio codec that could transport high quality audio in real time over an IP network. Specially commissioned by SkyWalker Sound, the sound division of George Lucas Film, the APT SkyLink product was completely unique for its time; used as a tool by remote talent, producers or sound engineers to review a 5.1 mix over a managed IP link. The SkyLink became the cornerstone upon which APT has built its reputation for IP Audio and the resulting expertise and inhouse technology has since been rolled into our globally successful, broadcast products. Our current range of APT IP audio codecs continue to lead the field with the same commitment to audio quality, reliability and innovation that we have always shown.
